Cosmetic Dental Crowns for a Beautiful Healthy Smile

Cosmetic Dental Crowns have certainly changed with new dental materials that are matched to the rest of your natural teeth and the tooth itself. With cosmetic dental crowns, you can enjoy your meals again and even talk better.

Cracked, chipped, and broken teeth can affect your smile and the way you speak and eat. If you have a broken molar, your speech will be affected not to mention the extra time it takes to pick the food out of the cracks and crevices in your broken and damaged teeth.

Dr. Ivan Valcarenghi is an Accredited Member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and has the experience to give you a beautiful smile using the latest dental technologies, including Cosmetic Dental Crowns.

In previous years, patients didn’t have much of a choice. Cosmetic Dental Crowns were manufactured out of metal or porcelain to metal and were not always as aesthetic, especially when the metal started to show between the tooth and the gum line.

Dr. Valcarenghi can match the dental crown using strong dental materials that are just as sturdy as metal and porcelain to metal crowns, not only do they look better, but they also feel better.

Dental Crown Types

There are four types of Dental Crowns:

  • Ceramic
  • Porcelain-fused to metal
  • Gold alloys
  • Base metal alloys

Ceramic crowns-In the past, ceramic crowns were only used to restore front teeth. However, thanks to the advances of cosmetic and restorative dentistry, dentists are able to place ceramic crowns using tooth colored materials that are just as sturdy and strong as other types of dental crowns.

Porcelain-fused to metal-This type of dental crown provides a stronger connection or bond than regular dental porcelain as it is bonded to metal making it very durable.

Gold Alloys-Mixed with copper, gold, and other metals, it provides a very strong connection and will not fracture or cause wear to the tooth.

Base Metal Alloys-Base metal alloy cosmetic dental crowns are made from highly corrosion resistant non-noble metals requiring the least amount of healthy tooth removal.
